Why don't women have sex scandals?
Why is it that we only hear of prominent men and sex scandals and rarely ever hear of women doing the same thing? I mean, Madonna admitted that she likes being screwed in every which way, but when she got married, we never heard a single word about her cheating.
Why is that?
Is it because men are led by their penises and women are only led by a man’s power rather than their vaginas?
Some popular reasons for why women are believed to keep their legs closed include:
- Women have to work extra hard for their prominence and are less willing to risk everything for sex.
- Women are much less susceptible to physical temptation
- Women might be too busy working and taking care of families to make time for affairs
- Most women just don’t have sex like men
Women also tend to go for men who are powerful and if a woman is prominent in her field, then there’s a good chance she won’t land too many powerful men, because they won’t want her.
Emily Gould, a New York wwriter says that “Even when those stereotypical power dynamics aren’t really the ones at play, the culture-making machinery will simplify whatever the real story is until it is a more familiar wronged-woman, lothario-man narrative.” In essence, when a woman cheats, the powers that be will make it the man’s fault.
So either way, men lose. When Princess Di was accused of cheating, it was said it was because she was neglected by her husband. But when it was discovered that Prince Charles was in love with someone else, everyone thought he was such a prick.
