Facebook takes the mystique out of dating
CollegeCandy has an article out about the pitfalls of Facebook and how it has changed the dating game – perhaps for good.
There was a time when we would, say, “Google” someone to try to get some background info on them, but now, thanks to Facebook, you could find out some super personal things without even really trying.
And does your Facebook profile really spell out who you are? If mine did, it would mean that I am nothing more than a drunken fool with a chip on her shoulder. Okay, so maybe that is part of who I am, but there’s so much more to me.
And Sammie from Fordham University feels the same way.
Do we really want someone we are about to go on a date with to check out everything about us and what others think of us via Facebook beforehand? And what if what they see turns them off? Are we doomed? I mean, we can’t even delete the damn thing even if we wanted to.
Bottom line is this: When you meet a guy and he asks you about Facebook, make sure that you don’t give him the correct spelling of your name. That, or make your Facebook profile attractive to even the most severe of bosses you’ve ever had. Ooh, but then he might think we’re boring.
Ugh! We can’t win.
