How men make themselves undateable

Anne Coyle and her best friend Ellen Rakieten have written a book called Undateable: 311 Things Guys Do That Guarantee They Won’t Be Dating or Having Sex. No seriously, that’s the title.

And the book’s getting a boatload of press. The thing is, the book is all about the superficial ways men screw up via their dress style.

Ellen Rakieten worked on The Oprah Winfrey Show for 23 years and believes she knows a thing or two about what it turning women off when they go on dates.

Anne Coyle is an interior designer who recently got divorced and is dating again.

After interviewing hundreds of women, the two came up with 311 things that men do wrong; but there’s a ratings system to it.

Red Flag items are innocent mistakes and should be forgiven.
Storm Cloud means that the guy’s look has created an unease with the woman and she is “on alert”.
Not Getting Any means that you are officially not sexy and you aren’t getting any sex for a while.
Kiss of Death means that you’re a freak.

• Red Flag items include crocs and the color turquoise
• Storm Cloud items include jorts (a cross between jeans and shorts) and Hawaiian shirts
• Not Getting Any items include pinky rings and white socks
• Kiss of Death items include Speedos, waxed eyebrows, and mesh clothing

While the authors that most guys who read the book laugh and ask if they’re actually listed in the book, I think that this only perpetuates the problems people are encountering in the dating world today.

We are so obsessed breaking others down over the little things that we don’t even bother looking at what’s really important – what the real dealbreakers should be.

A man’s wardrobe can be revised; his devout Christian values cannot. So put that in your pipe and smoke it, ladies. Oh wait, is that a Kiss of Death item?
